Advising

Our top-ranking advisor will help you craft an individualized course of study that will ensure you get the skills you need to build the career your want.

Your educational experience is personal, so we take your interests and goals into consideration as well as your co-curricular activities, work, and personal experiences. Your Film at Mason advisor will use all of this to guide discussions to help you realize your potential and be ready for real-world success upon graduation.

Academic advising helps plan educational goals and work to achieve them throughout a liberal arts education. With interests and goals in mind, academic advisors will help formulate academic plans. Advisors are dedicated to creating an atmosphere in which students can discover their potential, set and reach individual goals, explore and plan appropriate academic study, and prepare for success after graduation.

Advising for Current Students:

If you encounter difficulties accessing any resources, contact Lori Yi at 703-993-5780. For more information about Mason's commitment to accessibility, visit Accessibility@Mason. We welcome feedback on your user experience.

Change Your Major or Declare a Double Major

Current Mason students must submit their portfolio to SlideRoom by the deadline. For more information, email the Mason Film program or make an appointment with Film and Video Studies Admissions Coordinator, Lori Yi, to discuss a change/double major.

Make the Most of Your Advising Appointment

Be prepared to discuss and explore course options, address academic concerns, and make decisions about the upcoming semester. It’s helpful to review your course options for the next semester and make a list of those that interest you by reviewing your Degree Evaluation in PatriotWeb.

Cancellation

If you need to cancel/reschedule an appointment, go through the online system (see your confirmation email for the link). During peak advising periods, appointment times are at a premium. If you're more than 10 minutes late, there's no guarantee that you'll be seen.
