In the Cinematography pathway, students learn how to shape what appears on screen, what’s in focus, how frames move or don’t move, and how distances and angles matter. Students come to understand lighting and shadows, color and composition.
At once visual storytellers and skillful technicians, cinematographers work closely with directors, producers, actors, documentary subjects, production and costume designers, and sound and lighting crews, before and after production. Cinematography students lead and collaborate with teams, so they’re prepared for multiple creative roles.
