The Fall Film Showcase is an exhibition of student work made during the Fall semester at Film at Mason. The works range from intermediate directing students in fiction and documentary, beginning video production, to senior thesis films.

Pitch competitions are held each semester prior to the showcase of senior work at the Fall Film Showcase in December and the Mason Film Festival in April/May. Students who are currently enrolled in FAVS 498 are invited to compete. Pitch competitions are juried by members of the Film Advisory Board, faculty, and industry professionals. The money Pitch Award winners receive goes directly to the student to offset some of the expenses of their senior capstone project.
